There are a number of early developments of alternative HFCs, fluorocarbon resins, and fluorocarbon rubber widely used in applications ranging from the data and semiconductor industries to household items used in everyday living. 1930 T. Midgley and A.Hannel invented fluorocarbons.
1931 Dupont began manufacturing fluorocarbons.
1942 Daikin Industries developed and began manufacturing fluorocarbon gas using its own proprietary technology.
1953 Daikin began selling fluorocarbon resins.
1968 Daikin began selling water and oil repellents.
1970 Daikin began selling fluoroelastomers.
1980 Dry etching agents for semiconductors were developed.
1991

Daikin America Inc. (DAI) and MDA Manufacturing were established.
Production began for alternative fluorocarbon gas HFC-134a.
1992

Sales began for Lezanova fluorine-impregnated natural leather.
Daikin Chemical Europe GmbH was established.
1994 Operation began at DAI plant in Decatur, Alabama.

Daikin entered a patent cross licensing agreement with US company DuPont for new alternative refrigerants.
Daikin Chemical (Hong Kong) was established.
Daikin Fluoro Coatings (Shanghai) was established.
1998 Daikin Industries Beijing Office was established.

Daikin Chemical Netherlands was established.
Production began for alternative fluorocarbon gas HFC-32.
2000 Daikin Institute of Advanced Chemistry and Technology (DAI-ACT) was established in the United States.

Production began for alternative fluorocarbon gas HFC-125.
Formosa Daikin Advanced Chemicals was established in Taiwan.
Taiwan Daikin Advanced Chemicals was established in Taiwan.
Daikin Chemical France was established.
Daikin Fluorochemicals (China) was established.
Daikin CNCCC Chemical Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was renamed Daikin Chemical International trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Production of water and oil repellents began at factory in the United States.
