Features of NEOFLON FEP fluoropolymer cables
(1) High flame resistance
NEOFLON FEP is difficult to ignite. In the United States, it is used extensively for plenum cables.

(2) Low combustion energy
Even when it burns, NEOFLON FEP generates an extremely small amount of energy (1/9th that of PE), which reduce the worry of the fire spreading.

(3) Little smoke generation
NEOFLON FEP releases exceedingly small amounts of the smoke and gases which can be a big obstacles to safe evacuation and fire-fighting efforts.
(1) Toxicity
With FEP's high decomposition temperature, it is possible to evacuate the area before the stage where decomposition gases are released. The data developed by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association(NEMA) using the NYS/NEMA protocol shows no significantly discernible difference in toxicity(LC50) between the fluoropolymer, PVC and the polyolefin categories.

(2) Low corrosiveness
The effect of decomposition gases on electrical equipment circuits is nowhere near as great as other materials such as polyethylene and PVC.

(1) Low transmission losses
The dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent values are low over a wide frequency range, making FEP one of the best material available for reducing transmission losses.

(2) High-speed transmission
With its low dielectric constant, FEP is ideal for use as an insulating material for Category 5 Enhanced and Category 6 LAN cables which are required for high-speed data transmission.

(1) Easy installation
The excellent slip characteristics make it much easier to lay and replace cables.

(2) High environmental resistance
Excellent heat resistance, weather resistance, chemical resistance and cold resistance ensure that the cables can continue to be used for a long time.

Guide
Of course, it is impossible to construct a building completely from fireproof materials. However, it is possible to substitute some materials with other flame-resistant materials. In addition, if a fire starts which cannot e quickly put out, the most important factor is that the building must be able to be evacuated quickly and safely. Using cables which have been made using NEOFLON FEP fluoropolymer helps to stop the spread of fire and also reduces the amount of smoke generated, which are important in helping to maintain visibility during evacuation. DAIKIN recommends the use of cables made with NEOFLON FEP for use as data transmission cables for intelligent building LANs.
