In November 2007, Daikin included an "eco-point" system in the Ururu Sarara energy-efficient residential air conditioner, the first such system in the industry. Under this revolutionary system, families save energy with their air conditioner and in return Daikin contributes to forestation and forest conservation projects.
The Ururu Sarara air conditioner has a humidifying function that makes the room feel warmer during heating, and a comfort-eco mode that makes the room feel cooler by sending an intermittent cool breeze. Using these functions not only makes the room comfortable, it also reduces power consumption up to 50% and about 20% during the year.
We have also started a new project in which customers can take part. Whenever they use the comfort-eco mode, "eco-points" are stored on the remote controller. As points accumulate, a tree on the screen gets bigger. When it reaches maturity, a message is sent to Daikin. The more messages we get-in other words, the more energy customers save-the more work we contribute to reforestation and forest conservation projects.
Through this project in Indonesia, we support efforts in the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park in cooperation with NGO. Besides planting trees, the project involves developing proposals for alternative ways people can make a living and supporting environmental education striving for sustainable reforestation and conservation.
