Number of Employees in the Group

The Daikin Group is truly a global company. Of the approximately 36,400 employees (as of March 2008) at worldwide production and sales bases, approximately 25,600 of these employees work outside Japan. As part of Our Group Philosophy, we believe that the growth of the company must be preceded by the growth of individual employees, no matter their workplace or nationality. Daikin gives individuals a chance to use their talents and live up to company expectations by pushing themselves to their limits. The result of employees' efforts is fairly assessed by the company, and these assessments provide further motivation for employees. This synergistic relationship between the company and employees gives birth to great products that contribute to the betterment of customers' lives and benefit society. Our philosophy is helping us build an assessment system that motivates employees to take the initiative.

We offer multifaceted training to employees that gives them the basic knowledge and techniques to allow them to shoot for high goals and work toward them with motivation and pride. While respecting the diverse values of our employees around the world and the reasons that each of them work at Daikin, we aim to provide them with the motivation to continue their efforts.

In fiscal 2000, we introduced a goal management system for each division. This is an employee assessment system that sets clear levels of work achievement and then judges whether employees are reaching these levels. To provide fairness of opportunity and reward and come up with a fair assessment system that satisfies everyone involved, this year we aim to establish a shared worldwide basic policy that includes items such as performance-based pay.
