Daikin Industries has been awarded the SAM Bronze Class in SAM's Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the first time.
Conducted by Swiss asset management advisor Sustainable Asset Management Group, SAM's Corporate Sustainability Assessment measures the sustainability performance of the 2,500 largest companies in the world as reflected in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index based on economic, environmental, and social criteria every year, and classifies the top 15% of companies into three categories (SAM Gold Class, SAM Silver Class and SAM Bronze Class).
In 2010, 246 selected companies were classed- 97 for the Gold Class, 84 for the Silver Class and 65 for the Bronze Class.
Daikin Industries is the only Japanese company among six companies selected from "Industrial Engineering" Sector - two for the Silver Class and four for the Bronze Class.
