Effects of the 2011 Earthquake off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku

We would like to express our deepest sympathy to all those who are suffering from the earthquake and pray for the swift recovery of the disaster area.
Concerning Daikin factories in East Japan, operations at our Kashima Plant, a chemical factory located near the earthquake epicenter in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture, stopped as a result of the electric power outage occurring after the earthquake, and operations currently remain suspended. Similarly, operations for the Yuki Factory, a factory belonging to our subsidiary Nippon Muki Co., Ltd. and located in Yuki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, also stopped from the electric power outage. Operations at that factory have been suspended indefinitely. Details concerning the extent of the damage are currently being investigated.
We are also confirming the situation of local sales subsidiaries and related business operations in the area.
Concerning offices and Group companies in West Japan, there were no reported injuries or major damage to facilities from the impact of the earthquake, and factories continue to operate as usual.
We have completed confirming the fate from the earthquake of employees at Daikin Industries as well as the fate of employees at related companies of the Daikin Group and can confirm that there were no injuries or loss of life to any employees of the Daikin Group. We are currently in the process of confirming the fate of family members of our employees.
