1 April 2011
At this time, we would like to offer our prayers and express our heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of life resulting from the Earthquake off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku. It is our sincerest hope for the swift restoration and reconstruction in all affected areas.
Due to the electric power outage and infrastructure damage related to the earthquake occurring on March 11th, operations at our Kashima Plant (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture) were suspended.
However, with the return of electrical power and drainage facilities together with satisfactory progress made in plant inspection and similar activities, we are beginning phased-in production from April 1st.
Initially, operations at the Yuki Factory belonging to our subsidiary Nippon Muki Co., Ltd. (Yuki City, Ibaraki Prefecture) had also been suspended because of the electric power outage but operations at that factory have already been resumed.
Since an unpredictable factor exists in the restoration of infrastructure as well as procurement conditions for production resources, factory operations may be affected in the future. However, the entire company stands united in working together to stabilize procurement and production.
During this time, we ask for the kind understanding and cooperation of our customers for any inconvenience or concern caused by this situation.
