Daikin Industries, Ltd. (Osaka, Japan, Hiroyuki Kitai, president & COO) announced plans to establish Daikin Industries Czech republic s.r.o producing air conditioners in Pilsen, Czech Republic in June 2003. The new company will be the second manufacturing subsidiary to produce air-conditioning in Europe next to Daikin Europe N.V. in Belgium. Daikin aims to strengthen air conditioners production structure in Europe by reducing production cost and shortening products supply lead-time.
"Daikin Compressor Industries, Ltd." (DCI), a residential air-conditioning compressor production company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries, Ltd. (DIL), will hold a splendid grand opening ceremony attended by many honored guests, including the provincial governor of Royong, on September 24th at it's main plant in Amata City Industries Estate, Royong, Thailand.
Prior to tomorrow's ceremony, we will hold a commemorative party today from 7 PM at the Dusit Thani Hotel attended by many honored guests including Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Korn Dabbaransi, Deputy Minister of Commerce Mr. Suvarn Valaisathien, BOI Secretary General Mr. Somphong Wanapha, Chonburi Provincial Governor Mr. Chadej Insawang, and Japanese Ambassador Mr. Atsushi Tokinoya.
In February 2001 DCI was established and became Daikin's third residential air-conditioning compressor production base, which has a capital of 1.28 billion bahts. DCI will be the third production base after Shiga Plant in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan and Daikin Industries (Thailand), Ltd. (DIT), which is located at Chonburi Province, Thailand. The plant began operations on January 2002, combining the production technology that has been long cultivated by Daikin and the factory management know-how in Thailand that has been cultivated by DIT to DCI's production line to efficiently produce high-performance, superior quality substitute refrigerant (R410A) compressors. The production capacity is currently 250,000 units a year, and with a capital increase of 320 million bahts in November of this year, we plan to expand capacity to 400,000 units per year.
In the future, we will continue to investigate further expansion and development as DIL's global production base.
Since last year, DIL has been engaged in a strategic business plan known as "Fusion 05". Our core air-conditioning business is aiming to be global No.1 or No.2 in the fiscal year 2006, ending on March 31, 2006, by increasing our shares in Japan, and actively striving for overseas development. The market in air-conditioning systems in the Asia region here especially has achieved rapid growth lately and demand is estimated to increase hereafter. In addition to global development of production and sales of air-conditioning systems, Asia is the most important region, and we have been trying to establish an efficient production system and to improve the sales system.
Since the establishment of DIT in Thailand in 1990, we have received grateful support from the Thai government and have maintained a position to contribute to the progress of Thai air-conditioning technology and the development of local industries. With the establishment of DCI, we would like to use this opportunity to further expand the air-conditioning business of DIL as well as to contribute to the further development of Thailand.
