An overhaul is one of preventive maintenance services. An overhaul involves equipment disassembly and inspection of parts for signs of abnormalities.
The standard overhaul interval is determined in the discussion between the Daikin service engineer and customer.
The standard overhaul interval does not refer a period in which the equipment operates without problems, but it is a time period in which the equipment operates with high efficiency.
In an overhaul, rotating parts (wear parts) are visually inspected for scuffing marks, and dimensions are measured. Parts are cleaned, or replaced if faulty. An overhaul, therefore, eliminates the causes of deterioration resulting from aging (abrasion, looseness and dimensional changes in rotating parts), thus restoring the equipment to original condition.
An overhaul extends the equipment service life and assures many years of trouble-free operation.

Replacement of fan bearings on detecting abnormal noise and vibration Air conditioner fans operate almost always throughout the year -- not only during the cooling and heating seasons but also in the interim periods when they are operated to introduce outside air into the rooms for ventilation. Repairing air conditioners after breakdown in the cooling or heating season takes time and results in a financial burden.
Bearing temperatureBearings reach their maximum temperature between 30 minutes and 2 hours after the system starts operating. The temperature then drops gradually before stabilizing at approximately 25°C above the ambient temperature.
Bearings can overheat as a result of overload, shaft runout and shortage/excess of lubricating oil. Examining the temperature is the best way to check that bearings are operating smoothly.Grease refilling frequencyWe recommend refills of grease (designated by Daikin) every four to six months when air conditioners are used for cooling or ventilation, and every two to four months when they are used for heating.
Note: The recommended grease is "Albania Grease 3" from Shell. The operating temperature range is from -15°C to 90°C.Grease refillsGrease has two purposes: It is used to lubricate bearings, and to prevent dust and water from entering from outside. These purposes cannot be achieved if there is insufficient grease. However, too much grease can cause overheating of the bearing interior.
Grease should be supplied until a small amount of grease flows out of the gaps on the right and left sides of each bearing.

Clean heat exchangers ensure efficient operation Air conditioners collect dust when they operate. Dust accumulates in various places inside the air conditioners. Dust adhered on the heat exchangers, fans and drain pan in particular causes serious damage to the equipment. Accumulated dust not only lowers the heat exchanger efficiency but also reduces the amount of airflow to affect the overall performance. Dust also leads to mold generation, odors, water leakage and equipment breakdown.

Periodic inspection of hard-to-reach drain pans and electrical parts The drain pan is constantly wet and can collect dust easily. Water leakage and drain pan corrosion resulting from clogged drain system can lead to serious equipment problems.
