The project seeks to conserve forests covering some 11 million hectares in seven locations around the world. In Japan, Daikin is partnering with Shiretoko Nature Foundation, and for the other six locations, Daikin is partnering with Conservation International (CI).
The Daikin/CI partnership will support six critical forests of global importance for human well-being where CI has programs or initiatives underway forcusing on mitigating climate change and preserving natural resources.
The project will involve not only reforestation but also the support for the communities in these locations to make their living in a sustainable manner.
Daikin Industries has been working on reforestation and forest protection activities since 2008 in Indonesia together with
Conservation International (CI) and since 2011 in Japan’s Shiretoko Peninsula with the Shiretoko Nature Foundation.
In 2014, we expanded our cooperation with CI to include projects in Cambodia, China, India, Liberia, and Brazil.
Founded in 1987, Conservation International (CI) is an international non-governmental organization with a staff of 900 in about 70 countries and working on global issues such as climate change to build a sustainable society.
