Locations of support

The project seeks to conserve forests covering some 11 million hectares in seven locations around the world. In Japan, Daikin is partnering with Shiretoko Nature Foundation, and for the other six locations, Daikin is partnering with Conservation International (CI).
The Daikin/CI partnership will support six critical forests of global importance for human well-being where CI has programs or initiatives underway forcusing on mitigating climate change and preserving natural resources.
The project will involve not only reforestation but also the support for the communities in these locations to make their living in a sustainable manner.

  1. Japan [Shiretoko, Hokkaido] Restoring forests and educating future generations
  2. Indonesia [Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park] Management of reforested areas and support for activities to improve community's livelihood.
  3. Cambodia [Central Cardamom Protected Forest] Support for law enforcement on illegal logging and poaching in collaboration of the government and local communities.
  4. China [Mountains of Southwest China] Support for the introduction of agroforestry.
  5. India [North Western Ghats] Environmental education and conservation project in the area of high deforestation.
  6. Liberia [East Nimba Nature Reserve] Support for improvement of community's livelihood as well as mitigation of deforestation.
  7. Brazil [Amapa Biodiversity Corridor] Provision of methods for sustainable agricultural production utilizing ecosystem services.

Our forest protection partners

Daikin Industries has been working on reforestation and forest protection activities since 2008 in Indonesia together with
Conservation International (CI) and since 2011 in Japan’s Shiretoko Peninsula with the Shiretoko Nature Foundation.
In 2014, we expanded our cooperation with CI to include projects in Cambodia, China, India, Liberia, and Brazil.

Shiretoko Nature Foundation

For more than 20 years since its founding in 1988, the public interest incorporated foundation conducts environmental education and awareness raising, wildlife protection and surveys, and forest restoration activities.
