An Open Letter to Daikin Industries Ltd.
It is with great pleasure that we send you this letter to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Daikin Industries Ltd. and your commitment to corporate social responsibility. Daikin has been a great partner of Conservation International since joining forces in 2008 on the Indonesia reforestation "Green Wall" project.
As you know, nearly 20% of global carbon dioxide emissions result from deforestation. The impacts of a changing climate from deforestation and other sources are being felt today. We commend you for your recognition of the vital role that forests play in protecting the climate and ensuring human well-being.
We are a firm believer that there is a direct connection between forests and other essential natural resources and the health of our planet, our economy, and our global security. With the expansion of our partnership to "Forests for the Air" project, which is aimed at stopping the loss of valuable forests in seven countries, we will have an even greater impact on reducing the devastating impacts caused by deforestation.
