Award-Winning Products

Residential Air Conditioners for the Japanese Market, F/C/E Series

These series of residential air conditioners were recognized for harmonizing with living spaces while reducing the burden on installation and service technicians. As workforce aging and labor shortages become increasingly serious challenges in installation and maintenance operations, Daikin reviewed the component configuration from the perspective of field workers and standardized it across models with different capacities and functions. These improvements help shorten work time, reduce workloads, stabilize quality, streamline materials procurement, and conserve resources. The units feature a matte finish and a flat, unobtrusive form that blend naturally into living spaces, offering lasting comfort and value. Designed for users, installers, and service technicians alike, the products take a comprehensive approach to residential air-conditioning design. Previous Good Design Award-winning residential air conditioners include the flagship R, A, and D series, as well as the SX series (“risora”), which was developed with a focus on stylish design. *1

The SX series (“risora”) received the Good Design Award in 2017, followed by the R, A, and D series in 2018.

Streamer Air Purifier (MC757A)

Designed to have a subtle presence that fits naturally into everyday life, this air purifier was recognized for its ease of maintenance and minimalist design, which blends seamlessly into interior spaces. Measuring 315 mm wide and 530 mm high, its compact form is based on clean vertical and horizontal lines and does not obstruct sightlines or disrupt the harmony of a room. Its low center of gravity and tip-resistant construction allow for safe placement, even in households with young children or pets. In addition, it features a TAFU filter that does not require replacement for 10 years and a smooth, easy-to-clean form with minimal surface irregularities, helping to reduce both running costs and maintenance effort. By combining performance, aesthetics, and ease of continued use, the design contributes to a higher quality of everyday life.

Portable Oxygen Concentrator

The portable oxygen concentrator supports the daily lives of patients who require home oxygen therapy due to lung disease or other respiratory conditions. The product was recognized for reducing the physical and psychological burden associated with leaving home. To improve portability, the device and its dedicated carrying bag were designed as an integrated solution. Users can charge the unit, replace the battery, and attach or detach the nasal cannula*2 while the device remains inside the bag. Its two-way design allows it to be carried over the shoulder or as a backpack, enabling users to choose the most suitable style for their physical condition and circumstances. Drawing on the reliability and quiet operation of Daikin’s stationary oxygen concentrators, the product features a friendly, non-clinical appearance that fits naturally into everyday life. More than a medical device, it was designed as a tool that supports daily living.

Ceiling Mounted Cassette Type Air Conditioner for Southeast Asia

The ceiling mounted cassette type air conditioner for Southeast Asia was recognized for a design that blends seamlessly into commercial spaces such as retail stores and offices. Based on a simple, furniture-inspired aesthetic, its grille designs incorporate motifs drawn from traditional Southeast Asian weaving patterns and bamboo, allowing the unit to harmonize with a wide range of interiors. Optimized airflow paths and fan design deliver 15% greater airflow than previous models while maintaining low noise levels, enabling rapid cooling and effective humidity control in tropical climates. Individual louver control further enhances comfort by allowing precise airflow adjustment for occupants in shared spaces. The product brings together design, regional culture, and user experience.

R290 Plug-in Freezer Showcase (Jointly Awarded with AHT Cooling Systems GmbH)

The plug-in freezer showcases incorporate built-in compressors, eliminating the need for connection to outdoor units. The award-winning products*3 were recognized for addressing food retailers’ needs through design, supporting both greater energy efficiency and effective in-store merchandising. Showcases are available in glass-door and open-front configurations. These products use glass doors and a natural-convection cooling system*4 to improve energy efficiency, with all models achieving at least 100% of Japan’s fiscal 2020 energy-efficiency target.*5 They also use the natural refrigerant R290 to reduce environmental impact. While glass-door showcases can make products less visible and accessible than open-front models, these products address those challenges through curved glass, interior LED lighting, and five series with different glass-door shapes and opening configurations. The design delivers value for retailers, shoppers, and the environment alike.
