Showcasing an HVAC Solution that Prevents Overcooling and
Achieves Significant Energy Savings through the Combination of Ventilation and Air Conditioning
OSAKA, JAPAN, October 16, 2025 - Daikin Industries, Ltd. announced that it will exhibit at the “Japan Pavilion” organized by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment during the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), to be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21, 2025.
At the pavilion, Daikin will showcase its HVAC Solution that Prevents Overcooling and Achieves Significant Energy Savings through the Combination of Ventilation and Air Conditioning — a solution expected to contribute to the decarbonization of buildings. This marks the company’s third consecutive participation at COP following COP28 (2023) and COP29 (2024), where Daikin engaged in activities such as exhibitions and seminars.
COP brings together leaders from governments, international organizations, local authorities, NGOs, and businesses worldwide to discuss international policies and rules for addressing global warming. With buildings accounting for approximately 37% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, decarbonizing the building sector has become a priority in international climate action. At COP28, the Buildings Breakthrough initiative was launched to accelerate decarbonization and climate adaptation in the building sector. Achieving carbon neutrality in buildings requires significant reductions in GHG emissions from air conditioning, especially operational carbon — emissions from energy consumption and other building operations.
At the Japan Pavilion, Daikin will highlight its HVAC Solution that Prevents Overcooling and Achieves Significant Energy Savings through the Combination of Ventilation and Air Conditioning as solution for reducing operational carbon. Visitors will also experience a demonstration that recreates different humidity levels, allowing them to directly perceive how comfort varies even at the same temperature.
The HVAC solution that prevents overcooling utilizes an energy recovery ventilator to ventilate indoor space while exchanging heat and humidity between incoming outdoor air and indoor air. This reduces the thermal load on the system and helps maintain a comfortably low humidity level. In addition to the energy savings achieved through heat recovery by the energy recovery ventilator, the system allows for slightly higher air-conditioning set temperatures, leading to substantial energy reductions.
Demonstrations at Daikin’s own buildings have confirmed up to approximately 40%*1 reductions in power consumption compared with conventional ventilation and air conditioning methods. The results of this demonstration are also featured as a case study in a report*2 published by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) on building decarbonization.
As the importance of decarbonizing buildings continues to grow, Daikin is deploying a practical, ready-to-implement solution that combines proven ventilation and air conditioning technologies already in commercial use.
“Through our technology showcase at the Japan Pavilion and participation in seminars at COP30, Daikin will present our vision, technologies, and solutions for achieving carbon neutrality to government representatives, international organizations, and other stakeholders from around the world,” said Katsuyuki Sawai, Senior Executive Officer of Daikin Industries, Ltd., responsible for CSR, Global Environment, and External Relations. “With our pillars of unique air conditioning technologies, environmental solutions across the entire product lifecycle, and promotion of social implementation including engagement in policy collaboration and advocacy, we aim to lead the decarbonization of buildings. By sharing these efforts at COP30, we will contribute to addressing global environmental and energy challenges.”
As a leading HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) manufacturer operating in more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, Daikin aim to contribute to a sustainable society by promoting products and services that leverage our environmental technologies.
