Why “Auto” Fan Mode Is the Most Energy-Efficient Option
Air conditioners consume less energy when they reach the set temperature quickly. It is often assumed that a lower fan speed saves energy, but this is a common misconception. An air conditioner uses the most power immediately after starting, when it is working to cool the room. If the fan speed is kept low, it takes longer to reach the set temperature, which can increase overall energy use. So what is the best fan setting? If your air conditioner has an Auto mode, it will initially use a stronger airflow to cool the room quickly, then automatically switch to a lower fan speed once the set temperature is reached. This allows the unit to operate more efficiently, making Auto mode a recommended setting whenever available.
