Partners with startup offering a carbon accounting platform and ESG management services
OSAKA, Japan, June 12, 2025 - Daikin Industries, Ltd. has invested in Asuene Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan), a startup company providing services to measure and reduce CO2 emissions, and to support decarbonization and ESG management, by underwriting a capital increase through a third-party allocation of shares. Through this collaboration, the two companies will combine Asuene’s services with Daikin’s energy-saving HVAC equipment and energy management systems to deliver circular decarbonization solutions to global markets focusing on North America and Japan.
With the global proliferation of climate change countermeasures, regulations for disclosure of non-financial information are becoming stricter, and there is growing interest in ESG issues among investors and consumers, requiring companies to measure and reduce CO2 emissions throughout the supply chain. To help companies meet this challenge, Asuene offers cloud-based services for calculating and measuring CO2 emissions and ESG evaluation services for supply chains along with the comprehensive services. It provides comprehensive solutions and expert consultations to support non-financial disclosure, decarbonization initiatives, and ESG management, both in Japan and overseas.
Daikin has set “Challenge to Achieve Carbon Neutrality” as one of its growth strategy themes in its strategic management plan “FUSION 25.” The company believes in the importance of reducing the environmental impact of air conditioning, which is said to consume approximately 10% of the world's electricity, and has been providing highly efficient, energy-saving HVAC equipment around the world. This investment and collaboration seek implementation of an all-in-one process, ranging from understanding of the current situation through CO2 emissions visualization to formulating a roadmap for reducing emissions and employing energy-saving measures, such as highly efficient HVAC equipment and energy management systems. Furthermore, by continuously monitoring HVAC and building operations and providing improvement recommendations, Daikin and Asuene will offer circular solutions throughout the lifecycle, accelerating corporate contributions to decarbonization.
In November 2019, Daikin established the CVC Office in its Technology and Innovation Center to promote collaboration with startup companies in order to develop new technologies and provide advanced solutions. It has since invested in over 20 companies in Japan and overseas. In moving forward, Daikin will continue to globally build strong relationships with new partners in various fields and accelerate its open innovation efforts.
