Solidarity with Recommendations of the Task Force on
Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)

28 May 2019

Daikin Industries, Ltd. recently announced its support and agreement with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (hereinafter referred to as “TCFD” *1).

Air conditioners are an essential component of social infrastructure for human health and economic development, but they also account for a tremendous amount of electricity consumption due to their extensive use in countries around the world. In the belief that “a company cannot grow its business unless it contributes to solving environmental problems,” Daikin has endeavored as a comprehensive air conditioning manufacturer to mitigate the environmental impact of air conditioners by promoting the widespread adoption of energy-saving inverter technology and low GWP refrigerant R-32. In 2018, the company formulated its Environmental Vision for 2050, which aims for net zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050, based on a long-term perspective for the relationship between business and the environment. Moreover, Daikin engages in active communication with stakeholders concerning ESG*2 issues.

Response to the changes in society caused by climate change is of the utmost importance worldwide. As an advanced environmental company, Daikin analyses the risks and opportunities posed to its business by climate change, reflects them in its management strategy, and promotes full information disclosure.

The company will continue its contribution to the realization of a sustainable society on a global scale.
